稻草人舞團自2005年《南門城事件》製作開始，以site-specific dance performance概念所發展出的一系列以肢體介入特殊空間來展現舞蹈與空間實質交流與互動，並打破觀眾固定觀賞模式的演出形態。主旨在於提供舞者與觀眾毫無界線與距離的互動及觀看方式，讓觀眾身歷奇境，體驗所處的環境因肢體舞蹈所變化出虛實交替的空間感，進而使這些建築空間也因為舞者身體的介入產生了全新的生命與靈魂。

2009年本團重新定義特殊空間舞蹈演出的創作方向，藉創作發想會議形式下集體討論定名為《足in》系列，創作演出概念為：以每位參與者獨特的足跡進入各種不同的創作領域，把各自的創意於特殊空間裡集體被發生並發聲出來，藉此發展出舞蹈創作與表演多元豐富的新契機。初期足in踏入了由50年歷史的老建築所改造的台南加力畫廊，以及由破舊建築體所改造的高雄豆皮文藝咖啡館；在2010年則與成功大學建築系的師生一起跨界踏入由50年歷史的醬油釀造倉庫所改造的豆油間俱樂部，以及2011年進入安平樹屋，將樹屋所瀰漫著關於記憶的想像轉化為身體的詮釋演出，成功讓原本對舞蹈演出而言是"不友善"的表演空間，變成令人眼睛一亮的特殊表演場域，藉此活化並賦予老舊建築或非表演用途的空間新的面貌，也讓觀眾體驗到處處皆為表演場地的各種驚喜與特殊感官享受。2011年更受台北市立美術館委託，為該美術館特別量身打造《足In‧北美館》的創作演出節目。

《足In》系列節目以site-specific dance performance概念所發展出的一系列以肢體介入特殊空間來展現舞蹈與空間實質交流與互動，並打破觀眾固定觀賞模式的演出形態。主旨在於提供舞者與觀眾毫無界線與距離的互動及觀看方式，讓觀眾身歷奇境，體驗所處的環境因肢體舞蹈所變化出虛實交替的空間感，進而使這些建築空間也因為舞者身體的介入產生了全新的生命與靈魂。歷年演出特定空間包括：2009年臺南市加力畫廊、高雄市豆皮藝文空間；2010年豆油間俱樂部(50年廢棄醬油工廠)；2011年台南市安平樹屋、高雄市搗蛋藝術基地、台北市立美術館、台南市海安路藝術造街；2012年台南市運河膠筏上。

2013年開始發展有別於過去稻草人舞團足in系列演出，而是以身體進入不同空間所產生的對話與回應為創作發展主軸的《足in‧複合體》系列演出製作，2013年創作者從臺南B.B.Art以及臺北當代藝術館特有的藝術展覽空間形式與屬性作為靈感觸發，並運用日常生活經常出現的物件，來製作出概念性的服裝裝置藝術作品，表演者則從中轉化身體與物件間互動與牽制的表裡關係：如呼應、包容、衝突、妥協、依存之概念，並發展出對應之肢體動能和身體形態的演出呈現，藉此實踐身體跨域創作所帶出的實驗精神和豐富想像。

Site-specific Creative Dance Performance series is Scarecrow Contemporary Dance Company’s another remarkable performing and creative characteristic and style. SCDC has performed dance works particularly choreographed on the sites of historic remain, 50 year-old building, tree house, coffee shop, art gallery, street, alley, park, campus which break the boundary between audience and performers and create the soulful and vital atmosphere of the site .

《Step In‧Happening 2009─Site-Specific Creative Dance Showcase》, presented and produced by Scarecrow Contemporary Dance Company, will bring the dancing feet out of the proscenium stage and make them step into the unique architecture space and environment so that the choreographers and performers can break through from the classical choreographic formation and create new performance style by combining multi-media elements with dance movements. The main purpose of this production is to revive special space and environment such as art gallery, coffee shop, old building, and book store, etc. and to give the dance creation and performance a whole new meanings and challenge, as well. This year the company chose Inart Space which located in the 100-year-old building in the oldest city of Taiwan, Tainan City, as the first stage to present this vivid dance showcase.
